| The size difference you have there is the same as (in the Platinum nomenclature) a PFR-6B-11B (longer) vs. a PFR-6B-11 (shorter). Now, the 6B-11B is for the US market ONLY. J-Spec Z's only got the 6B-11 and it is recommended, and in fact we went through quite a drama with the Aus 300ZX Owners Assoc in trying to get NGK to even bring 6B-11B's into the country (the 300ZX is the ONLY car that uses these plugs). Testing by a few people (some of who's opinion in such matters I totally trust) suggests that in fact the 6B-11 (the shorter plug) is better for perfromance (as tested with Road Dyno) and also has a better detonation threshold (maybe this is just due to the itty bitty less compression you get with the shorter plug. Anyway, with all that, why is the 6B-11B recommended in the US then? The only reason which can be thought of is emmissions reasons.... J-Spec Z's have lesser emmission restrictions (we don't even get precats) and so perhaps the 6B-11 was deemed the better choice. Also, what the hell is all that at the bottom of your headlight? J-Spec's have this:
 and this:
That's it! Are those adjusters on the bottom? If so, explains why you don't have these:
These are the 4 adjusters on a J-Spec headlight, which after a bit of email conversation with a US owner it appears are not on a US Z, correct? You're always learning.... Ben
